A Life Dedicated to Music

For over three decades, music has been the foundation of my life. As a Carnatic flautist, mridangam artist, music director, and educator, I have been fortunate to perform, compose, and teach across diverse stages and audiences.Every concert is an opportunity to connect with listeners through authentic Indian classical music, while every innovation reflects my commitment to preserving tradition and making it more accessible for future generations.

Innovation Rooted in Tradition

The journey of AMV Music Academy extends beyond teaching. It is driven by a vision to combine classical excellence with modern learning methods and meaningful innovation. From live performances to the creation of Amrithangam®, every initiative is designed to inspire students, musicians, and music lovers while honoring the timeless heritage of Indian classical music.

From Passion to Purpose

Palakkad MuraliKrishnan

Music has always been more than a profession—it has been my purpose. Every performance, every lesson, and every composition has been guided by a simple belief: authentic Indian classical music should be accessible, inspiring, and relevant to every generation. This vision led to the creation of AMV Music Academy, where traditional Carnatic values meet modern learning methods. Whether through structured online courses, live concerts, workshops, or personalised mentoring, my goal is to help students experience music not just as a subject to learn, but as a lifelong companion. The same passion also inspired Amrithangam®, a modern evolution of the traditional mridangam designed to improve portability while preserving its rich tonal character. It reflects my belief that innovation should honour tradition rather than replace it.Every initiative I undertake is driven by a single purpose—to preserve our musical heritage, empower aspiring musicians, and ensure that the timeless beauty of Indian classical music continues to inspire generations across the world.

Where Music Meets Leadership

Building Businesses,
Inspiring People

While music has always been the purpose of my life, leadership has shaped another important part of my journey. After completing my education, I joined the company founded by my father, Mr. P. C. Mohanan. What began as an opportunity to learn gradually became a lifelong commitment to carrying forward his vision. Today, I have the privilege of serving as the Managing Director, working alongside an exceptional team to expand and strengthen the organisation.Business and music may appear to be two different worlds, but they have taught me the very same principles—discipline, patience, integrity, innovation, and above all, respect for people.Leading an organisation has strengthened my ability to listen, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions. Those very lessons continue to influence the way I teach, mentor students, compose music, and build AMV Music Academy.I have never believed that success should be limited to a single profession. I believe every experience enriches the next. The discipline of business has made me a better musician, while music has made me a more compassionate leader.Whether I am in a boardroom, a recording studio, a classroom, or on a concert stage, my purpose remains the same—to create lasting value, inspire people, and leave every place better than I found it.

A Letter from Palakkad MuraliKrishnan

Dear Music Lover,

Before I tell you about music, I'd like to tell you about life.

Music has taught me many lessons, but perhaps the greatest lesson came not from a concert stage, a classroom, or a recording studio—it came from life's most difficult challenges.

There was a time when my journey was interrupted by a battle I never expected.

"Every challenge reminded me of something deeper."

Cancer itself did not break me.

What truly shook me was the thought that music might leave me forever.

A tumor had destroyed the elbow joint of my left arm—the very arm that supports my flute. There were moments when I was told that amputation might be the only option. For a musician, it felt like losing not just a hand, but a part of my identity.

But deep within my heart, I believed my story was not meant to end there.

During those uncertain days, I found strength in prayer. Standing before Lord Krishna, I surrendered my fears and chose hope over despair. Soon afterward, I was introduced to Dr. Pramod S. Chinder of Bengaluru CMC Hospital—a meeting I will always consider one of the greatest blessings of my life.

There was another challenge.

Before my surgery, my elbow remained broken for nearly five months. I could no longer hold my flute. I could not perform. I could not practise the instrument that had been my lifelong companion.

But I refused to let silence become my teacher.

Instead, I discovered music in a different way.

I began practising on an iPad using an instrument called GeoShred. Day after day, while waiting for surgery, I continued learning, creating, and expressing music through technology.

It reminded me of something I will never forget:

Music does not live inside our hands.
It lives inside our hearts.

When my surgery was finally performed, Dr. Pramod reconstructed my elbow with a titanium implant, preserving my arm and giving me the opportunity to hold my flute once again.

Today, every note I play carries a deeper meaning.
I no longer perform simply because I can.

I perform because I was given another chance.

And something beautiful happened along the way.

What began as a temporary way to keep music alive eventually became a new passion. Today, I am not only a flautist, but also a dedicated GeoShred performer, embracing technology as another instrument for musical expression. What once seemed like a limitation became an unexpected gift.

Looking back, I realise that every challenge carried a hidden purpose.
It strengthened my faith.
It deepened my gratitude.
It transformed my understanding of music.
Today, AMV Music Academy is more than an online music school. It is a reflection of resilience, faith, innovation, and the belief that no obstacle is greater than the purpose God has placed within us. If my journey encourages even one person to keep believing, to keep learning, or to keep moving forward despite life's uncertainties, then every surgery, every struggle, and every painful moment has found its purpose.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. I look forward to sharing many more years of music, learning, and inspiration with you.

Perhaps these are what we call the mysterious ways of God.
When I had reached the limits of my own strength, His grace quietly began where mine ended.

With gratitude,

Palakkad MuraliKrishnan

Founder, AMV Music Academy

P.S. If my journey encourages even one person to keep believing, then every challenge I faced has found its purpose.
